Jerusalem Hanukkah Nitzanim Registration Closes on 19 November: Five Days Cost NIS 50

Registration for Jerusalem's Nitzanim Hanukkah holiday program opened on 3 November and continues until 19 November 2026. According to Jerusalem Municipality, the program is for kindergarten children and students in grades 1 through 3, and will run for five days, from 6 to 10 December. The published price is NIS 50 for all five activity days.
Families already familiar with Nitzanim still need to register for the holiday program. The municipality stresses that online registration is mandatory for every child. Free participation for children of reservists and career military personnel requires appropriate documentation and does not remove the registration requirement.
Alongside the registration deadline, put the pickup time in your calendar: the morning program ends at 13:00. Families needing later care should check the afternoon arrangements separately, rather than assuming that NIS 50 covers a day extending into the afternoon.
Five activity days, with different starting times
The municipality's announcement about Nitzanim at Hanukkah says kindergarten activities will begin at 07:30 and end at 13:00. At schools, they will start at 08:00 and finish at the same time. The published dates are Sunday through Thursday, 6 to 10 December 2026.
The half‑hour morning difference matters to a family dropping off one child at kindergarten and another at school. Before deciding when to leave for work, check where each child will actually attend and how much time is needed between locations. Registering for two settings does not guarantee identical arrival times.
The published schedule provides five and a half hours daily at kindergarten and five hours at school. Across five days, that is 27.5 hours at kindergarten and 25 hours at school. This calculation covers the announced program hours, excluding travel and afternoon care.
The general notice does not list every activity group's address or each child's placement. Check the exact location during registration and in the confirmation, rather than relying on an address from a previous holiday. Families arranging collection by someone else should pass on the updated location details.
What the price covers and who qualifies for a published exemption
The municipal price is NIS 50 for the entire activity period, not per day. Divided across five days, that is NIS 10 a day, but this calculation does not mean individual days can be purchased. Families seeking partial attendance should ask whether that option exists and under what conditions.
For two children paying the full fee, the morning program would cost NIS 100. This is simply a household calculation, before afternoon care or any other expense not included in the announcement. Keep the payment breakdown so you know which child and program each charge covers.
Children of reservists and career military personnel have been offered free participation subject to documentation. Jerusalemnet's report lists an active reserve service order, confirmation of active career service or a valid career service identification card. Prepare the appropriate document in advance and check what the registration system requires you to upload.
The announcement does not establish that any old military document qualifies for an exemption, nor does it describe every exceptional case. If your service circumstances or documentation do not clearly match the requirement, ask before completing payment. Do not rely on a future refund that has not been promised to you.
Holiday registration and afternoon care require separate checks
Jerusalem Municipality states that Nitzanim afternoon care requires separate registration and an additional payment for children not already enrolled in that service. Knowing that a child is registered for the morning program is therefore not enough to establish how late they may stay.
Families already using afternoon care should check their holiday arrangements, hours and location. Those not enrolled should ask about the additional price and whether they can join. The general announcement does not publish an afternoon care fee or guarantee space in every setting.
Plan collection around the service that has actually been confirmed. If afternoon care has not yet been approved, do not organize your working day on the assumption that your child can stay beyond 13:00. A clear confirmation helps avoid a situation in which two adults each believe the other is handling pickup.
What to check before submitting the form
Registration takes place through the municipal website. Find the Nitzanim Hanukkah holiday program for the correct year and select the appropriate kindergarten or school option. Check that the child's details and contact information are current and that you selected the intended setting.
Before final confirmation, review the dates, hours, location and charge. If requesting an exemption, make sure the document is attached in the correct place and is legible. Save registration confirmation and a receipt if payment was made; a screenshot of the beginning of the form is not a substitute for confirmation that registration was completed.
If accessibility, an individual adjustment or allergy arrangements are needed, discuss them with the program before activities begin. The municipal notice does not detail arrangements for each child. Questions about food, items to bring and collection authorization should also be checked against the selected operator's instructions.
The approaching deadline is registration, not the holiday itself
Activities begin in December, but registration closes on 19 November. Waiting until Hanukkah could leave the family unregistered by the published deadline. The announcement does not promise late registration or an extension.
Jerusalemnet notes that the program is subsidized and operates subject to the Education Ministry's call for participation. That is part of the program's conditions, alongside the instructions provided at registration. The useful step now is to register every child, keep the confirmation and separately settle the pickup times and afternoon care your family needs.
