Accessibility Statement
Updated: 2 October 2026
We want everyone, including people with disabilities, to be able to read and navigate The Israeli Journal comfortably. The site was built according to the principles of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
What we have implemented
- The entire site can be navigated by keyboard, and a "Skip to page content" link lets you bypass the menu.
- The focused element is marked with a prominent outline.
- Pages use structured headings, defined navigation regions and labels for search fields.
- Illustrations have alternative text, and decorative illustrations are hidden from screen readers.
- The site adapts to screens of all sizes and supports browser zoom.
- Animations are automatically reduced when the device is set to prefer reduced motion.
The display and accessibility menu
The fixed button in the corner of the screen opens a menu where you can increase or decrease text size, increase contrast, switch to grayscale, underline links, select a simple font, increase line and letter spacing and stop animations. Your choices are saved on your device. You can also open the menu using the link at the bottom of every page.
Known limitations
The site has been tested in a Chrome-based browser on a computer and in a phone layout, including keyboard navigation and zoom. A full test with screen reader software has not yet been conducted. Links to external sites may lead to pages that are not fully accessible.
